Salt & Straw February's Chocolatier Series

You Scream, I Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream...

By Sophal Hamaker February 8, 2019

What can make this Snowpocalypse 209 better?  Ice cream.  Yes, ice cream.  Let me be MORE specific … CHOCOLATE ice cream!

Allow me to present to you:  Salt & Straw's Chocolatier Series!

Salt & Straw's chocolatiers and chocolate makers have crafted a series of flavors that push boundaries making it more than just ice cream, it is now modern art.  They have collaborated with Seattle's iconic chocolate institutions: Fran's, Theo, Fresco, Forte, and Intrigue.  In honor of this short, but not to be forgotten month of romance, they are offering this series of decadent flavors for us to enjoy.  So, before the snow really hits your streets hard, bundle yourself up, take a short trek to Capitol Hill to Salt & Straw and pick up a pint or two and bring home to the kids.  Picking up one of these or all of these flavors will make you the Snowpocalypse 2019 Savior!

Fran’s Almond Gold Bar
Fran Bigelow (of Fran’s)handmade gourmet candy bars is added into Salt & Straw’s version of an ice cream her friends used to make for her in the `80s. Think salted vanilla ice cream with generous drizzles of caramel, chocolate, and pieces of the toasted-almond-and-burnt-caramel chocolate bar.
Theo’s Root Beer Barrel Chocolate Sorbet (Vegan)
Organic orfair-trade ingredients are sourced for this play on Theo’s vegan root beer barrel dark chocolate bar—a vanilla-laced root beer and dark chocolate sorbet swirl.
Fresco’s Pure Chocolate Bar
Just a touch of salt, sweet cream, and two kinds of Fresco’s dark Dominican chocolate with deep red-fruit notes.

Forte’s Chili & Orange Spiced Chocolate
The antithesis of the orange-foil-covered whack-and-unwrap chocolate orange of holidays past. Forte’s beautifully nuanced chocolates were used in the chile-chocolate base and the punch of zesty, salty, orange stracciatella.

Intrigue Chocolate’s Zort inParadise
A boozy jelly, wrapped in a seedy base, inside a chocolate enigma. A tribute to the brain child of Intrigue Chocolate, this peppery and floral cream made from grains of paradise provides a warming backdrop to the Port jam’s berry notes and rich, salted chocolate pillows.

**Take your sweetie to Salt & Straw or pull out a bowl and spoon and eat it at home. Postmates will be offering free delivery from Salt & Straw from 2/11-2/17.

Salt & Straw will be hosting a "Vote Back Your Favorite Series" so, stay tuned ...
